Some important things you should know about water based finishes;
VOC’s (Volatile organic compounds): These are the substances that are classified as hazardous to humans and the environment. VOCs are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids. VOCs include a variety of chemicals, some of which may have short- and long-term adverse health effects. Concentrations of many VOCs are consistently higher indoors (up to ten times higher) than outdoors. VOC levels should be an important factor in choosing your type of finish, protecting your health and the environment should be the upmost priority, and there are finishes that allow you to do so while not impacting the quality of the finish. Trustor Coatings has the lowest VOC product line in the industry, every finish is below 100 with the lowest at 70.
Tabor Abrasion tests and why are they important: Tabor Abrasion Tests consist of several styles of testing. Specific tests are performed on Hardwood Floor Finish according to ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) The most common of these tests are performed using an abrasive (CS17) weighted wheel (1000gr) which rotates on a small sample board, the results of the test consist of the amount of revolutions the wheel makes before wear through to the wood occurs. Wearmax has the highest Tabor ratings in the industry.
Warranties: Both the residential and commercial warranty provides the customers with piece of mind knowing that the finish is backed up by the manufacturer not to wear through to the wood for the duration of the warranty. There are currently no site applied commercial warranties other than Wearmax finish and that’s only one of the many advantages of Wearmax Ceramic Finish.
